Kiriburu is in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand. It was into the dense forest. This place was full of Greenary. When we were small we have seen rain almost for 8 to 9 months in the year. But life was very cool ..no tension of water logging ..as it was situated in the peak of Saranda range....I can remember mystic fragnance in the nature during rainy season. I can remember eating kusum, Siyaari etc. at that time. All part of Kiriburu-Meghahatuburu is divided into colony. We were staying in Teacher's colony in Prospecting area. All of us use to come out and use to play "Garanti" - this is to be played with Iron rod and you have to mark a wet place in the ground and everyone will try to fix this road inside the mark and if you are unable to do so ...then you will be given some kind of punishment...likewise we had "Deegul", "Kancha", "Ayees-baayees", "Gobar - Danda" "Kit-kit tha" etc. very piculiar names ...naming convention is local in nature ....as this place is in tribal belt ...so we have seen its own naming convention and we loved to pronounce that way only....all these games which I mentioned above may be played in other part of our country but with different name......unfortunately we can't play today. Anyway, So our daily routine were ..going to school and after coming from the school playing with whole "Mohalla". That time there was no TV...and we used to play till 7 in the evening...but we were waiting for the evening desperately....
yes there were fight between us ..but rivalary was just for few hours or a day ..after that we used to become good friend and was playing together.
Cricket was a "Nasha" for all of us....Gavaskar, Viv Richards, Kapil happened to be our hero. Even we have founded club Called "Star Club" ....Baboon da ( Paresh Datta) was our captain ...And Atul ( Atul Chaturvedi) was Vice captain ...we played lots of matches and won as well. Apart from Cricket ...we loved to celebrate Saraswati puja in a big way in our colony ...Every kid in our locality was over enthu ....we used to collect money through contribution ...there were very fond memory of collecting money ...specially when some one don't want to contribute and we used to force him or her to contribute atleast 5 rupees. And then We were giving order for Idol ...we used to decorate pandal ....there were celebrations for two days .....followed by movie in the Video and cultural program....It was a great moment...which we will never forget in our life...
On 1st january we used to go for picnic..I must say Kiriburu is blessed with natural treasures and these places were the "Hot spot" for picnic. From 29th decemebr onwards we used to buy lots of stuffs for picnic....preparation was going on full swing....My parents and their family friends used to go for picnic together...I must tell you we had a unforgettable moments....Apart from family we used to go to picnic with our class mates as well ( when we grown up)....and every moment of picnic was unforgettable..specially with our lovely class....I remember we first went for picnic....in class 10th on 20th Nov. 1988 to a place called "Pahaari nala" ..then in class 11th on 19th Nov 1989 to a place called "Bokna Nala" and in class 12th on 28th Oct 1990 to a place called "Pahaari nala" Again.....rellay each and every moments of all picnics which I had with my friends are memorable....Specially our picnic of class 10th when girls of our class fought with us to take them for picnic as we, boys only, were planning for the picnic. Unforgettable moments!!!.
